The first letter of Peter is written to exiles in what is now modern-day Turkey. Exiles could be better under understood as “resident aliens”, people who had put down roots in one locality and yet didn’t fully belong to that culture. This sermon explores some of the major themes of the book and how we can live as faithful disciples of Jesus in the midst of a culture that is not our home.
