Visible Women
This week Rupert Ward continues our summer series ‘Visible Women’ and looks at Job’s relationship with his wife and daughters (Job 1:1 – 2: 10). Rupert examines the text and encourages us to notice things that are rather unexpected. For example, why are Job’s daughters named at the end of this passage, when his sons aren’t? In a male dominated and patriarchal society this would indeed have caused readers to sit up and take note. Rupert uncovers something deep and transformational that has happened to Job during his journey through trauma, loss, suffering and grief.

Rupert recommended two books during this sermon; Forbidden Fruit and Fig leaves by Judith Rossall and Getting involved with God by Ellen Davis.
