Why is it that watching a stream go by or looking at shimmering trees feels like doing something rather than doing nothing? Offered are general observations about God and nature (with an emphasis on the quality of receptivity) and then in part 2 specific observations from Hosea 14 (with an emphasis on the quality of relinquishment, of letting go). The Old Testament prophets’ theme is often the covenant and their message is often ‘turn’. What are we invited to turn towards and do trees provide pointers?
