Scripture of the week at CCE

This week Rupert Ward will be speaking to us from Mark 6:30-32. The disciples had just returned from their travels – a busy ministry trip. It seems to have gone well – they excitedly report to Jesus all they had done and taught. They also are tired.

Spend a few minutes reading Mk 6: 30-32 and imagine yourself as one of the disciples. What are you feeling as you return from the ministry trip? What is your reaction as Jesus invites you to come away with him and the other disciples?

Jesus Feeds Five Thousand
The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat. So they left by boat for a quiet place, where they could be alone.
