Foodbank Update for October

Dear Friends,
It’s amazing, and a little disconcerting, to see how quickly things can change from one month to the next! After a very positive report to you at the beginning of September, I now have to tell you that we have already had to make another order to Sainsbury’s because numbers have been up again and several basic food items are at a low ebb. What a blessing that, thanks to generous donations of money to the Foodbank from churches in particular, we are able to fund the purchase of food, even monthly at the moment.
We have been offered goods from a Harvest collection at Merchiston Castle school. It’s always good to see help coming from organisations other than churches and local businesses and we are very grateful for this offer. We would ask that you would also consider us if you are holding such collections at your Harvest Thanksgiving services this month.
As we continue to rely on the generosity of our congregations, I am attaching a list of items we particularly need during October. Please would you circulate this notice to your congregations? Please also pray for God’s blessing on all our guests, and continue to pray for a longer-term solution to the funding difficulties for Edinburgh City Mission’s foodbanks.
Soup
Tinned Vegetables
Breakfast Cereal
Tuna/Sardines

With grateful thanks for your continuing support of Newington Foodbank+.
