The Scottish Government has recently starting lifting restrictions for churches, allowing for some possibilities of gathering together. This is not a return to normal, and whatever we do will look very different from what we have been used to, but it does open up the exciting possibility that we can find different contexts for meeting together.
The leadership team have been reviewing the latest guidance and seeking to discern God’s leading. We will release a video next week with some of our thoughts of the way forward for the autumn. Whatever we do, we want to be wise, safe, responsible to the wider society, and take things slowly. We remain committed to our core mission of Christ centered community, seeing people fully alive, and helping the world to flourish – this can happen in lots of different ways & contexts and believe we (individually and corporately) can thrive in the changed world in which we live.
There is a huge amount of work to facilitate any meeting together to ensure we comply with government guidelines. If you are able to offer any practical help that would be greatly appreciated. We’ll put more detail on that in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, please email the office if you are willing to help, in principle.
The Leadership Team have found this video of a Q&A with Jason Leitch, National Clinical Director for the Scottish Government incredibly helpful. Jason is a committed Christian and elder in Airdrie Baptist Church. It is 40 mins long, but very helpful if you are interested in what is possible and not possible for churches at this point in exiting lockdown.
