Colossians Growth Group
It’s been really nourishing to look deeper into the teaching in Colossians with the other members of the growth group. It’s been interesting to learn about the mixed spiritual influences in Colossae at the time the book was written, and the spiritual confusion that Paul was addressing. As part of the group we discussed how we could speak to someone in a state of spiritual confusion about Jesus.
The insights from different members of the group have been really valuable and have helped me to think about the verses in different ways. I have been encouraged to think about praying for individuals using the prayers in chapter 1 of Colossians and to think about the supremacy of Christ in all things. I was particularly struck by the power of the verse below, and in chapter 3 we were encouraged to think about repentance. I would thoroughly recommend joining a growth group to go deeper into Gods word.
He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:14)
