A story from Foodbank+

We wanted to share a recent story with you;-
A blessing for the Foodbank has been the arrival of two new volunteers, who had both been guests attending weekly for food and other basics. They expressed, independently of each other, a desire to “give something back”. Let’s call them David and Kirsten.
David had lost his job and been referred to us for help before Christmas. Although he had found a new job to start mid-January, he had three weeks spare and was keen to help out at the Foodbank for those few weeks. It was great to have his help shifting tables, chairs and crates of food, particularly since some of our regular helpers were on holiday over Christmas.
Kirsten had been attending as a guest for several weeks and, when her referral ended, asked if she could become a regular volunteer. She is proving to be enthusiastic and efficient and from her recent experience as someone in need of food and basic items herself, she gives us good ideas about how to improve the Foodbank experience for our guests. She is also able to offer advice to the guests about how to get the best out of the basic items we provide.
If you’d like to leave any donations for Foodbank+, they may be left on the Foodbank table in the Kings Hall foyer or delivered midweek – call (Andrew Hook on 0131 466 8661) or email (office@cce.community) to ensure someone will be around to receive your donation.
